Can we speak of the long-term car hire in Bulgaria as a popular or at least as a common practice? We are not talking about hiring a car for 2-3 weeks or a month. What we mean is a long-term car hire with rental periods ranging from several months to a full year. The answer is clear. Statistically speaking such car rental contracts are rare and are mostly signed by corporate clients. More interesting however is the question, why aren't private clients interested in such car rental contract terms. You might say - it's too expensive. And you might think you're right at least at first glance. Most car rentals publish prices for rental periods up to a month. Long-term rent a car contracts in Bulgaria as it turns out are signed by case under much better price terms. You might be thinking if any normal person would hire a long-term rental car, thus paying large amounts of money each month, when she / he can sign a leasing contract for a new car under much better price terms. Is this really so? Lets do the math with some example prices: New lease car compared to a rental car by the monthly expenses.
As you can see for yourself in the example, the monthly cost of a rent a car in Bulgaria is by far not so different from that of a lease car, as you might have expected initially. When you add the indisputable advantages of a rental car you start wondering why is the interest in long-term rental cars so low. In my opinion the reason is the mentality of the people in Bulgaria. They simply prefer to be owners of everything - cars, apartments, etc... you name it, than rentees or users no matter how unreasonable this might turn out to be.
